This place is PERFECT, a perfect 5 stars. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the world and I don't say that lightly! If you like wonderful home-style, family run S. Italian food you are in for a treat. Everything is home made the old fashioned way. Dad cooks, mom helps. Their charming daughter Ariana and daughter in law Gina are your servers. It's like you were invited into the home of a great Italian home cook. Seafood portions are very generous. Try the lemoncello cake, also a 10.

Very nice atmosphere, great food and excellent service. I had a wrap, with the house salad with the vinaigrette dressing and minestrone soup. All were fabulous. I will be back!

This is one of the few places that I have visited more then once. It's the bomb dot com! It deserves a 4.5 (It's not roll my eyes back and have a mini-moment 5, but it is damn good) My co-workers know that when it comes to finding someplace that is delicious and nutritious; I'm your gal. So the lunch time spurge bug hit, I was asked "what can we eat that is good?" I knew Tuscan would satisfy all tastes involved. What we ordered: Apps: Potato soup Buffalo wings fried really hard Garlic bread Entrees: Handmade cheese ravioli with a diablo cream sauce Eggplant parmigiana Chicken Marsala The soup was flavorful and the right consistency -- was glad the co-worker allowed me to put some on a saucer so I could enjoy the warmth The wings although we stressed fried hard -- were a little too soft for our likes - It is a personal preference - however none of us could truly enjoy the wings that soft. The homemade blue cheese and ranch dressing is fresh and delish!! We were dipping that goodness on the bread and even our forks -- really good The garlic bread is really good -- however the bread that you get free was stale tasting and got left on the table until we ran out of things to dip that delicious dressing in. All entrees were very tasty... I was surprised at the chicken dish it was flavorful without being overwhelming The eggplant was nice and firm without being too hard -- perfect! My dish was the ravioli -- I was glad that the chef allowed me to mix the cream sauce with the diablo creating a nice sauce with a hint of kick Although the co-workers were interested in desert we didn't get any because it wasn't made in-house All in all a good dining experience - It was a very good lunch with happy eats!

This place was great! Great service, excellent food, quiet and just nice. It was a Sunday evening and around 7, so not crowded. Appetizers: Saganaki: yummy! Stuffed mushroom: OMG delicious! Entrees: Sausage Puttanesca: sweet, spicy, and just plain ol mm mm good! Love it! Eggplant Parmesan: I heard was delicious! I didn't try it but there was none left, that says delicious to me. I didn't have room for dessert but I will be back for another meal and will leave room for dessert. The rolls were evil! They were soooo good. I kept wanting to eat more. I used it to clean my bowl of sausage puttanesca. My bowl was absolutely squeaky clean. Service: 5 stars. I wish I could remember her name. She was fantastic!!

This place was just fine after a rough Monday at work. The atmosphere is pleasant and unintimidating. I had the manicotti and it was great with a lot of ricotta. Salad is kind of boring and could do without the weird half breadstick. They have no idea what they are doing with cocktails, but there was very nice, friendly service from the waitress. I would go back for sure, but don't make a destination out of it.

Shame on me for not coming in here sooner! This place is frikkin' awesome!!! The waitress running the place this afternoon = super friendly! Very helpful with the recommendations. I couldn't make up my mind mainly because my brain wasn't functioning properly due to a wee bit too much wine from my new favorite wine spot the evening prior. I was recommended their beef sandwich on homemade focaccia bread. BOOM! Deliciousness super noms! And those fries that came with are the best fries I've had since I can remember when. Crunchy, crispy, perfectly seasoned perfection. I had it with some homemade pepper mayo (go big or go home). I have reached my caloric intake for the week with lunch today and I have a half of my monster sandwich left for dinner. Had some good conversation too about sushi (I'll talk about sushi with anyone, anywhere, anytime!) and now that I'm full of some great conversation, deliciously fulfilling food, and warm thoughts of devouring the second part of this meal later, the world is a better place!

I have lived in the Chicagoland area for almost 10 years now and my quest for a decent slice of pizza has finally ended. Tuscan Grill has saved me. Not only is their food excellent, but the service and atmosphere makes you feel right at home. I got the Char-bites(perfectly seasoned pieces of steak) for the first time last night and decided to finally right my review. I looooove this place!

I've eaten here about 10 times now. Everytime I've gone I've eaten something different. The food is always very fresh and the portions are ridiculously big. All of the pricing is very very reasonable. I do not have a complaint about this place. Except they don't have a wheelbarrow to wheel me out to my car. O and the service is excellent.

I've been meaning to come here forever and I'm so glad I finally did! I'm eating an incredibly delicious and fresh sandwich and talking to some of the nicest waitresses I've met in a long time. Don't overlook this gem!

My friend got seriously ill after eating here. She had to go on the medical. She couldn't work. She had food poisoning. I couldn't believe that they knew of the malfunctioning toilet & did nothing to fix situation. It was disgusting to see discarded toilet paper in garbage sitting next to toilet. Who wants to see that before, during or after a meal!! We spent a lot of money here including tip over $75 & that was with a Restaurant.com coupon for $15. We tipped waitress well because none of this is her fault. She was friendly & attentive. Also there's a problem with heat in this place. They need a rehab top to bottom. The ambience is nice. I hope they get things worked out.

Definite improvements from its opening week. Service has been on-point, ticket times have improved, things appear to be more fluid. Food has stepped up a level, and complaints have lessened. Monster calzones are a nice addition, but be prepared to wait. My recent veggie calzone was a tad undercooked, but moreless worth the wait. Keeping the pace, it has potential to be one of the top contenders in Blue Island.

My fiancé and I were looking for a place to have dinner and wanted to support a local restaurant in my hometown. I always see this restraint when I drive down western and always think how cute it looks from the outside, so we decided to try it. Service- Our server, Maggie, was extremely friendly right from the beginning and presented us with the evening's specials and soups. She was just the right amount of chatty and even gave us some background information (which I loved) about the restaurant's owner. Throughout our meal, she consistently checked up on us and refilled our drinks without us even having to ask. It was truly a great dining experience. Food (dinner) - I ordered the chicken Marsala and a basic salad with a house made balsamic dressing (recommended by Maggie). My fiancé had the Chicken Vienna with a cream of mushroom soup. When our food arrived, we both tasted our dishes and were so pleased. It was apparent that our entrees were both made with fresh and high quality ingredients, full of flavor. Food (dessert/coffee) - we finished our meal with tiramisu and coffee, both decadent and a real joy to consume. We loved every last bite! Needless to say, our expectations were met and exceeded. We weren't sure what to expect with our dining experience, as some small restaurants can be mediocre in service and taste. I'm happy to report that it was the exact opposite. We will be returning soon and also telling our friends about this little gem in my home town!

I'm a big fan of Tuscan Grill. Family owned and operated in the heart of Blue Island's historic Uptown commercial district, this place delivers tasty Italian favorites, a few unique surprises, in a casual dining setting that's perfect for the neighborhood. I've had a bit of everything from the menu. My favorite are the panini sandwiches with a basket of fries. Italian classics like manicotti are done perfectly. The pizza is one of the best in town. Hand made calzones are worth the wait! This is a kitchen that knows how to cook. If you're in town for business I'd recommend this place for a working lunch. Grab a booth and get to work! Servers are attentive and keep your group happy. Carry outs are a breeze if you need to bring something home to the family. If you've been here in the past you owe yourself a revisit. Nicely remodeled dining room, opened up with a full bar to one side. Comfortable and cozy, I'm happy the family gave it another go and excited to see what's next for Tuscan Grill!

Visited this restaurant a few times, and now it's a staple place to go for lunch or for delivery. The decor and food is totally revamped and a much appreciated changed to the Blue Island eating choices. The owner, Ben, makes it a point to ask how the food and service is, and often gives plenty of samples of new menu items he is trying out. The menu and food is good and some items are hits such as the burgers. The pasta and salad options are also very decent and tastes home made. Best of all, the delivery option to local businesses is fantastic and they will usually take orders up until lunch time!

Been there twice. First visit, we had sandwiches which were excellent, but the last time, we had pizza. It was once of the best I've ever had. Excellent crisp crust and toppings. Service is very pleasant and the atmosphere is comfortable and casual. I've only been there in the afternoon, so I don't know how busy/noisy it may be in the evening. But the best thing I can suggest is to try to pizza...wonderful!

My wife and I have been there 3 times and have never been disappointed. Nice reasonably priced bottled wines. Last night I had the white fish special wt capers spinach, and fresh vegetables, my wife had eggplant parmigiana. Both entrees were very good. Fresh salad and flaming saganaki. Our server was great.

My husband and I were visiting from out of state and had no idea on where to eat. We pulled off the freeway and I used Yelp to find Tuscan Grill. What a gem! The decor and service was inviting and impeccable. Ariana and Alban accommodated us, even though we arrived just as they were closing. The salads we got were amazing! Colorful, fresh, and filled with an assortment of vegetables and lettuce. We were so glad to find this family run restaurant, and will definitely visit again when we are in Chicago. Thank you for making our evening memorable in the best ways.

Came here for the first time tonight. I have no complaints. Food was good, drinks were good, service was very good. Nice atmosphere with a lot of character. Will definitely become a regular here. The tiramisu was delicious. Can't go wrong with the prices either.

New favorite spot! The food is great and the prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food that you receive. Te service is wonderful. So happy that they are here in Blue Island. I had their salmon, which I normally won't order just anywhere. The lobster bisque was available that day. Soooo tasty. It was great! Their lemon cake is incredible! I highly recommend everyone try Tuscan grill. They will be back regularly.

First time here, was impressed with the food and the service! The lasagna was cooked perfectly, my wife loved her veal Marsala, my son had the portabella ravioli, said it was very good. Nice friendly neighborhoord place. The only thing was the lighting was a little to bright.

I live nearby so I stopped here on my walk home from the train station. Ordered the bruschetta burger--delicious! A burger, fries, and fountain drink was under ten dollars. I will definitely be coming back to try some of the other menu items.

I have been at the Tuscan Grill twice since it has opened. Once as a sit down for lunch and the second as a carry out for dinner. Both times I experienced excellent food and service. From the servers to the owners it was a WONDERFUL experience. The people who work there are very warm and attentive. The food is delicious. I would, and have, recommend this restaurant to anyone. The manicotti I ordered came freshly prepared and was the best I have ever eaten (even better than my own). The beef sandwiches and hamburger my guests had were just as good. BRAVO! Glad you are down the block from me!!!

What to say about my experience. something's were great some ?? Let's start with the start of my evening, my husband ordered a miller lite. The waitress came back and said they where out. Ok no biggy. I then ordered the flaming cheese the waitress came over and when they went to light the cheese the lighter didn't work... Ok no biggy .it was awesome so that was no big deal. Next the waitress took are orders ( she was a really nice person I didn't blame her at all for the experience) my husband ordered the n.y. Strip she talked him out of it and down to the prime rib..why where they out of it? I ordered the Alfredo. My husband wasn't but served his soup and the meal was there. His was great salty a little, but all in all Great, mine was good store bought quality but all in all ok. We then took a piece of cheesecake and a piece of chocolate mousse home. The cheesecake was so old it was rubbery and thrown away, the mousse was to die for. So I guess this is why my review was questionable. I will give it one more try to see if they get better with time. I do have a few suggestions.. You either have to go all in on the presentation of the place or not at all so people don't know what there missing. Grated Parmesan cheese ( go for the real stuff) no water at the table ( it's a good gesture) your in blue island we settle for Smirnoff grey goose or better is a little rough. Open coffee pot box on the table next to me ?... Could be great.. Hope you figure out the kinks. All in all thanks for a good experience.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
